The Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia, Nguyễn Minh Vũ, embarked on a visit to the northeastern provinces of Stung Treng and Kratie to enhance collaboration between Vietnamese regions and Cambodia. This visit also served as an opportunity to assess the business ventures of Vietnamese companies and the living standards of the Vietnamese-origin community residing there.

During discussions with local Cambodian leaders, the focus was on broadening cooperation in key areas such as trade, agriculture, infrastructure, energy, and investment. Cambodian officials acknowledged the strengthening ties fostered through various agreements, business exchanges, and development initiatives with Vietnamese provinces. In particular, Kratie province lauded the strides made in diplomatic and socio-economic partnerships with Vietnam. This includes collaboration on infrastructure projects and efforts to locate and repatriate the remains of Vietnamese soldiers who perished during wartime in Cambodia.

Ambassador Nguyễn Minh Vũ commended the role of Vietnamese enterprises in sectors like agriculture, mining, and rubber production within Cambodia, noting that these ventures have significantly contributed to local economic development and bilateral relations. In Stung Treng, local authorities underscored the province’s potential for investment in high-tech agriculture and eco-tourism, urging more Vietnamese businesses to seize opportunities in the area.

Additionally, the ambassador engaged with members of the Vietnamese-origin community to address legal and livelihood concerns, while encouraging adherence to local regulations and support for educational and sustainable development initiatives. Presently, Vietnam stands as one of Cambodia’s largest foreign investors, with over 200 projects amounting to approximately $3 billion in registered capital.
