Severe flooding in Cambodia has displaced thousands of people across 10 provinces, as relentless rainfall continues to batter the region. More than 44,800 families have been affected, with approximately 3,700 households forced to evacuate to safer areas, according to local authorities.

The provinces of Battambang, Banteay Meanchey, and Siem Reap are among the worst hit by the rising floodwaters. In addition to the displacement of residents, the floods have impacted over 40,000 homes and nearly 50,000 hectares of rice fields, posing a significant threat to local agriculture and food security.

The flooding is primarily attributed to persistent heavy rainfall, which has been affecting Cambodia since September 24. The country has been experiencing widespread rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds, with weather conditions expected to persist until at least September 30.

Local authorities are working to assist those affected by the floods, providing necessary aid and support to evacuees. Efforts are underway to monitor the situation and mitigate further impact as the adverse weather conditions continue. The ongoing rain poses challenges for recovery and relief operations, as communities brace for potential further flooding in the coming days.
