Cambodia is intensifying efforts to modernize its transport and logistics infrastructure as part of a strategic push to boost trade competitiveness and enhance its integration into regional and global supply chains. This initiative is spearheaded by the Cambodian government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Manet, who recently presided over a Council of Ministers meeting to assess progress in these areas.
The government’s reform agenda is anchored in the Comprehensive Master Plan on the Cambodian Intermodal Transport and Logistics System 2023–2033. This ambitious roadmap outlines the development of 174 projects across various transportation modes, including roads, railways, waterways, ports, aviation, logistics, and intermodal transport. The goal is to streamline supply chains, enhance trade routes, and reduce transit costs, thereby improving connections between domestic markets and international trade corridors.
By enhancing transport infrastructure, Cambodia aims to support the growth of its manufacturing and agro-processing sectors and foster the development of higher-value industries. This is expected to attract foreign investment and bolster Cambodia’s position within regional and global trade networks.
The focus on logistics reforms reflects Cambodia’s commitment to strengthening its economic foundations and improving its trade capacities. As these projects unfold, they are anticipated to play a crucial role in facilitating seamless trade flows and boosting the country’s economic resilience in the face of a dynamic global market.
