Police forces from Vietnam’s Tây Ninh Province and Cambodia’s Svay Rieng, Prey Veng, and Tboung Khmum provinces have committed to enhancing their collaboration to tackle cross-border crime and maintain security along their shared border. This agreement emerged from a conference held in Tây Ninh on Friday, where officials reviewed past cooperation and strategized on future efforts.
The four provincial police forces underscored the necessity of maintaining robust information exchanges and coordinating efforts to combat criminal activities such as drug and human trafficking, smuggling, money laundering, and online fraud. Direct communication and regular meetings were highlighted as vital to ensuring swift information exchange and prompt case handling.
In addition to these measures, the forces agreed to intensify patrols and monitoring of border trails and crossings. This step aims to prevent illegal border crossings that could aid organized transnational crime. The commitment also includes a focus on counter-terrorism efforts, arms trafficking, and addressing high-tech crime, as well as coordinating responses to emerging non-traditional security threats.
The conference concluded with the signing of a memorandum of cooperation, aimed at bolstering crime prevention and maintaining order in these border regions. This agreement marks a significant step toward reinforcing security measures and strengthening the partnership between the neighboring provinces.
