The Institute of Risk Management (IRM) has revealed that its International Certificate in Operational Risk Management (ICORM) along with three other professional risk management award programs are now eligible for funding by HRD Corp in Malaysia. This development aims to broaden access to globally recognized risk management education. The move is designed to empower Malaysian employers and professionals to enhance their skills in enterprise risk management, an area gaining importance as organizations contend with challenges like digital transformation, artificial intelligence, regulatory compliance, operational resilience, and governance.
IRM’s decision aligns with Malaysia’s priorities for workforce development, where there remains a notable shortage of skills in risk management roles. By offering flexible, workplace-focused training, IRM intends to aid employers in making better decisions and fostering organizational resilience. The HRD Corp-funded programs include courses such as Managing AI Risks in the Workplace, which addresses governance, ethical, and operational risks associated with artificial intelligence, and Financial Services Risk Management, which delves into risk management practices within banking, insurance, and financial services.
Other programs eligible for funding include Managing Organisational Risks, which introduces enterprise risk management principles, and the International Certificate in Operational Risk Management (ICORM), which covers operational risk frameworks, controls, monitoring, reporting, risk culture, and event management. These programs are facilitated by IRM Asia, the regional arm of the organization, which is also a registered HRD Corp training provider.
Eligible Malaysian employers can leverage this funding opportunity to invest in internationally recognized professional qualifications. The initiative is part of IRM’s strategy to expand professional risk management education throughout the ASEAN region, supporting organizations in building sustainable risk management capabilities for the long term.
